The itinerary

Eight mornings,
four countries,
one slow river.

The Danube does not hurry. Neither do we. Each port has been chosen for what it offers in the early hours and the later ones — when the tour groups have gone, and the city is yours again.

  1. Day 1
    Budapest, Hungary
    Embarkation
Embark the AmaMagna in the late afternoon. A welcome reception on the sun deck as the parliament lights come up across the water and the ship moors below the Chain Bridge.
  2. Day 2
    Budapest
    City of two halves
A morning panoramic tour through Buda's castle hill and Pest's grand boulevards — Heroes' Square, the Chain Bridge, the Great Synagogue — with the afternoon free for the Széchenyi baths or coffee at the New York Café.
  3. Day 3
    Bratislava, Slovakia
    Old town
A guided walk through Bratislava's pastel old town — the coronation cathedral of Hungarian kings, Michael's Gate, and the cobbled lanes below the castle. Sail on for Vienna by evening.
  4. Day 4
    Vienna, Austria
    Imperial day
A panoramic tour along the Ringstrasse — Hofburg, opera house, Schönbrunn — and an evening Mozart and Strauss concert in a Viennese palace. A glass of sekt at the interval.
  5. Day 5
    Weissenkirchen · Wachau Valley
    Vineyard light
Sail through the Wachau in apricot and vine. A morning visit to the baroque Melk Abbey, then an afternoon Grüner Veltliner tasting in Dürnstein, the village where Richard the Lionheart was held captive.
  6. Day 6
Linz · Salzburg or Český Krumlov
    Choose your day
From Linz, choose a full-day excursion to Salzburg — Mozart's birthplace and the lakes that played The Sound of Music — or a private transfer to Český Krumlov, the UNESCO old town set in a bend of the Vltava.
  7. Day 7
    Passau, Germany
    City of Three Rivers
The confluence of the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz. A morning walking tour of the baroque old town and an organ recital at St Stephen's Cathedral — the largest cathedral organ in Europe.
  8. Day 8
    Vilshofen
    Disembark
Disembarkation after breakfast. Onward transfers — by car, rail, or private aviation — arranged by Elizzora.

The itinerary

Seven nights,
four countries,
one storied river.

The Rhine carries a thousand years of trade and legend. We sail it slowly — the gabled houses of Amsterdam to the Swiss border, with the castles of the gorge in between.

  1. Day 1
    Amsterdam, Netherlands
    Embarkation
Embark in the late afternoon along the Amsterdam canals. A welcome reception on the sun deck as the gabled houses slide past at dusk.
  2. Day 2
    Cologne, Germany
    Cathedral hour
A guided walk through Cologne's old town to the Gothic cathedral — twin spires that took six hundred years to finish — and a tasting of Kölsch beer in a quiet brewhouse.
  3. Day 3
    Koblenz · Rhine Gorge
    Castles & vines
Sail the UNESCO-listed Rhine Gorge in daylight — Marksburg, Pfalzgrafenstein, and the Lorelei rock — with terraced vineyards rising on both banks.
  4. Day 4
    Rüdesheim
    Wine country
A wine-tasting in the cellars of the Rüdesheimer Schloss, then the Drosselgasse — a single cobbled lane of music and Riesling — before sailing on toward Mannheim.
  5. Day 5
    Mannheim · Heidelberg
    Castle excursion
A morning excursion to Heidelberg — the romantic ruin of its red sandstone castle above the Neckar, and the long pedestrian high street of the old university town.
  6. Day 6
    Strasbourg, France
    Petite France
A guided walk through Petite France — half-timbered houses leaning over the canals — and the soaring sandstone of Strasbourg cathedral. Free time for a tarte flambée in the old quarter.
  7. Day 7
    Breisach · Black Forest
    Forest day
An excursion into the Black Forest — clock-makers, kirschwasser, and the dense pines that gave the region its name — or a tasting of Alsatian wines on the French side.
  8. Day 8
    Basel, Switzerland
    Disembark
Disembarkation after breakfast in Basel. Onward connections to Zürich, Lucerne or beyond, arranged by Elizzora.

The itinerary

Seven nights,
two countries,
one ancient river.

The Mekong does not hurry, either — and asks more of you than the European rivers. We pace it gently: temples in the cool of the morning, the river by lamplight, and a long lunch in between.

  1. Day 1
    Siem Reap, Cambodia
    Pre-cruise
Arrive Siem Reap. A pre-cruise stay arranged by Elizzora — sunrise over Angkor Wat, the strangler figs of Ta Prohm, and the carved galleries of Bayon at Angkor Thom.
  2. Day 2
    Kampong Cham
    Embarkation
Transfer south to embark the AmaDara at Kampong Cham. A welcome reception on the sun deck as the river opens out beyond the bamboo bridge.
  3. Day 3
    Kampong Tralach · Oudong
    Country roads
An ox-cart ride through Kampong Tralach's rice paddies, then a visit to Oudong — the former royal capital — for a Buddhist blessing by saffron-robed monks.
  4. Day 4
    Phnom Penh
    Royal city
The Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda in the morning, and the sobering galleries of the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum in the afternoon. An evening cyclo ride through the lit streets.
  5. Day 5
Border crossing · Tan Chau, Vietnam
    Into the delta
Cross into Vietnam by river. A sampan ride through the floating villages of Tan Chau, an evergreen island, and a silk workshop where the looms still run by hand.
  6. Day 6
    Sa Dec
    Marguerite Duras
The home of Marguerite Duras' lover from The Lover, a wet-market walk, and a visit to a 19th-century house of carved teak — a quiet hour with the family who still live there.
  7. Day 7
    Cai Be · My Tho
    Working delta
A small-boat tour through the floating market at Cai Be, a stop at a coconut-candy workshop, and a glass of honey tea at a fruit orchard before the ship turns toward Saigon.
  8. Day 8
My Tho · Ho Chi Minh City
    Disembark
Disembarkation after breakfast at My Tho, with a road transfer to Ho Chi Minh City. Onward connections — or a post-cruise stay at the Park Hyatt — arranged by Elizzora.
